I. Our Mission

DNO seeks to inspire action. We make products and share ideas that work to build the world we wish to see. A portion of proceeds is used to support cultural organizations and produce creative content — always engaging with and uplifting our communities.

II. Our Origin

Our first style, the DNO Classic, represents our dedication to New Orleans and its independent spirit. We first printed the design in 2003 on vintage pieces, shirts from thrift stores, and discount t-shirt packs from Gator's department stores. We opened our first store in 2011.

III. Our Community

We're grateful to everyone we've worked with over the years, especially the artists, makers, musicians, and photographers. We continue to craft visions for how to create and commune, to expand what it means to be a voice in this changing world — forward motion and resistance.

IV. Further Reading

We also work to publish and share art, music, and other editorials — either written by or featuring artists and change makers in New Orleans and elsewhere.

Our Values

01 Accountability

Be responsible, become reliable — consistency is key.

02 Communication

Listen and share. If you know, teach. If you don’t know, learn.

03 Diversity

Seek and foster togetherness; it is its own reward.

04 Growth

Be curious, keep fighting, and rest. Seek new experiences. Take it easy.

05 Mindfulness

Be mindful and compassionate. Show care. When the small things matter, everything matters more.

06 Proactivity

Make the first move. Take action; create change.

07 Humility

Be true to yourself and show respect to all.

08 Service

Give freely — you are love.

Activism

MACCNO

The Music & Culture Coalition of New Orleans collaborates with, organizes, and empowers the New Orleans music and cultural community to preserve and nurture the city’s culture, to translate community vision into policy change, and to create positive economic impact.

IPNO

Innocence Project New Orleans (IPNO) frees innocent, life-sentenced prisoners.

IPNO supports clients living well and fully in the world after their release.

They advocate for sensible criminal justice policies that reduce wrongful convictions.

CRCL

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana is a non-profit organization whose mission is to drive bold, science-based action to rebuild coastal Louisiana through outreach, restoration and advocacy.

CRCL works at the state, local and federal level to ensure that restoring and protecting coastal Louisiana is a top priority for our state and the nation. They facilitate and fund actual restoration projects through a Habitat Restoration Program and work to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and restoring coastal Louisiana.

BreakOUT!

BreakOUT! seeks to end the criminalization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth to build a safer and more just New Orleans.

BreakOUT! builds on the rich cultural tradition of resistance in the South to build the power of LGBTQ youth ages 13-25 and directly impacted by the criminal justice system through youth organizing, healing justice, and leadership development programs.
