This Saturday, October 15th, 2016 our friends, NolaGrown, will host their 1st Annual Le Tour De French Quarter Sickle Cell Awareness fundraiser event.

The goal and vision for the initiative is to bring awareness to Sickle Cell Disease, and raise funding for continued research. Le Tour De French Quarter is a 3 mile charity bike ride through the French Quarter followed by an outdoor block party with local celebrities, food, drink, and music. We hope this annual event will help create awareness about the disease and spur new developments in the fight against the sickness.

“We are overwhelmed by the level of support we have received in the inaugural year of this event” says Brent De Large, the founder of “Nola Grown”. Sponsors and vendors include: Unchained Realities Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., District Donuts, Defend New Orleans, Winn-Dixie, Ascension Branding & Marketing, Double Black Café, NOLA Sense LLCKilo Brands Energy Drink, NOLA Gear UP, Gator Bait, Abstract NOLA, also District Donuts and Double Black Café will have food and drinks available for sale.

The post ride block party will be DJ’d by DJ Keith Scott and feature a few special guests.

For ticketing information and how to attend, log on to www.letournola.com or call (504)723-7721.

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells. People with sickle cell disease have red blood cells that contain mostly hemoglobin* S, an abnormal type of hemoglobin. Sometimes these red blood cells become sickle-shaped (crescent shaped) and have difficulty passing through small blood vessels.
